Aurora University Student Emily Joy of Batavia Will Compete in National Student Marketing Contest

2012 Feb 17

Aurora University senior marketing major Emily Joy of Batavia will participate in a national student marketing competition in New Orleans on March 22 as part of a six-member AU team.

The AU students will compete against other top schools in the American Marketing Association Intercollegiate Case Competition at the 34th annual International Collegiate Conference. The finalists will present their solutions to a business marketing challenge, and winners will receive cash awards.

This is the second year AU has placed a team in the competition; last year's team won an honorable mention.

"This year's AU team put in hundreds of hours from late summer to December to make their submission," said Brian Vander Schee, Associate Professor of Marketing. "AU competitors include Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business, the top business school in the world."

The Collegiate Chapters Council of the AMA sponsors the annual International Collegiate Case Competition, which began in 1986. The competition is a yearlong event that brings together top marketing students to work on a challenge submitted by a sponsoring organization.

This year's Case Challenge requires teams to develop an integrated marketing communications plan for Pearson Learning Solution's new service concept, "Prepare." Set to launch in fall 2012, the service will offer college students the opportunity to take online, self-paced introductory and general education courses and earn credit.
